Pack of Cats

Pack of Cats

This datapack (and resource pack) allows players to become cats (not the actual entity though) with many features, items, and mechanics, and overall harder gameplay than a normal player. This can be used for survival challenges, just messing around with stuff, and whatever else you can think of. This datapack (and resource pack) will receive updates and is not final. At the bottom of the page is things you should know before using, so please read!

Features

- Cats need to eat proper food that cats usually eat. Eating food that isn't normally good for cats will result in negative effects. If they eat too much bad food very quickly, they will receive stronger negative effects. Raw food also can't give the hunger effect to cats anymore.

- Cats get slowed down the more/heavier armor they wear, eventually not being able to jump up blocks. - Cats can scratch on carpets and doors, purr on beds, and play in the snow by sneaking when looking at an angle which depends on which one of these you're trying to do, for carpets and snow you look down, for doors and beds you look forward. - Cats can make certain mobs and players bleed by hitting them without holding anything as long as the target is not wearing armor, the more armor the less chance of bleeding, armor type does not matter. Some entities like skeletons or golems that would realistically not have blood can't be affected by bleeding. This bleeding can be stopped by using a bandage or a medkit, and the recipes for those items can be unlocked by sleeping in a bed. Bleeding can also be applied by a sword enchantment, however this way it is not guaranteed. - Cats are smaller than normal players, are faster, can step up blocks, can't reach blocks or entities far away, and other small changes. - Cats only have 9 hearts compared to the 10 of a normal player. - Cats are able to climb up certain blocks, but not all blocks, though with limited stamina, and cats can't climb if they are wet, however if they are wet from rain they can still climb, but their stamina will drain twice as fast, and won't regenerate. Climbing can be activated by sneaking while looking at a block that supports climbing on it. - Cats can get wet from rain and water, water having significantly more debuffs than just being wet from rain. Rain can be prevented with the Leaf Hood item, and you can also dry off both by using a blanket. - Cats can catch fish from water sources by sneaking and looking down at them. How fast you catch a fish is determined by randomness. Treasure or junk items can't be obtained with this, only fish. - Cats and players can eat various types of cat food, but it will only help cats, normal players will get negative effects. In the future when there's enough cat foods, I might make potions give negative effects (but still grant the effect) to have cats use cat food more. Recipes for the cat foods can all be obtained by taming a cat. - Cats are given night vision in darker areas to see better like normal cats would. - Cats are able to perform a stronger jump by sneaking, looking up, and jumping. This can be useful for getting around, but climbing is very useful for that as well. - Cats have unique sounds that play when certain things happen, such as them getting hurt or eating, this matches the normal cat entity. - Upon death, cats will drop the normal cat loot table, but can also sometimes drop a Cat Bone, which can be used to obtain quartz without going to the nether. - Tools and weapons are not as useful for cats due to them being unable to properly handle and use them, leading to lower damage/mining speed. - Players and cats can see any custom effects applied to them in their actionbar. - Cats can't trample crops, unlike normal players.

This list of features may be missing some that I forgot!

Items

- Bandage Can be used to stop the bleeding effect from cats, also removes poison

- Cooked Tropical Fish Similar to the bandage but this one also gives regeneration to heal the damage from the bleeding, also removes poison and wither - Cooked Tropical Fish Can be used to dry yourself quicker as a cat when you are wet - Cooked Tropical Fish Developer only item, not normally accessible, acts as both a weapon and a shield - Cooked Tropical Fish - Normal Cat Food ~ Gives cats healing and damages normal players - Premium Cat Food ~ Gives cats regeneration and healing, and damages normal players - Meat Blend Cat Food ~ Gives cats resistance and absorption, and damages normal players - Tuna Mix Cat Food ~ Gives cats jump boost and speed, and damages normal players - Egg Mash Cat Food ~ Gives cats luck and damages normal players - Bone Broth Cat Food ~ Gives cats strength and dolphins grace and damages normal players - Cooked Tropical Fish An item that can drop when any cat dies, can be used for around 30 seconds to obtain quartz - Cooked Tropical Fish Can be worn on the head, prevents getting wet from rain but also adds an overlay and slows the player down slightly - Cooked Tropical Fish Developer only item, not normally accessible, can be eaten to restore a tiny bit of hunger, weirdly does not poison cats - Cooked Tropical Fish The blanket item turns into this item if used properly, can be used to extinquish yourself at the cost of getting wet, can be smelted back into a normal blanket with a campfire or furnace - Cooked Tropical Fish Can be obtained by cooking a tropical fish in a campfire, furnace, or smoker, and are slightly better for cats than eating other fish due to the difficulty of finding them. Yes, I will probably add pufferfish too, please be patient.

Enchantments

- Slicing Can be used to apply bleed like cats would normally be able to, but this time with an actual weapon, instead of having to be a cat, this time, having full armor does not prevent bleeding fully (from the slicing enchantment) as long as you have level 2 of the enchantment, as level 1 is not able to apply bleed to players with full armor. The maximum level on this enchantment is 2, and it can be obtained by villagers or the enchanting table, and can be put onto swords.

Things To Know

- To become a cat or turn someone into one, set their "isCat" scoreboard to 1, and 0 to disable.

- To give yourself items from the datapack, run /function and type "give", then all the item giving functions will show up, running one normally won't work, and you need to include these after the function: player, amount. Example: {player:"Steve",amount:1}
